Yeah! Any is in Hyattsville and she says there's thunder!
Part of the reasons the roads are so bad here is that when the shit came down it wasn't that cold, and then it all froze, and this wet stuff is heavy. My wheels just spun and spun and spun. My dad had to drive me home, because though we both only have front wheel drive, his car is heavier. It's still not cold, but all this stuff is just heavy.
It's supposed to snow for like thirty straight hours! We're on hour 5.5 here, and it seems like we're getting about an inch an hour. If this keeps up, then...there is no way I'm leaving the house tomorrow for anything except shoveling. Damn it, weather, I had plans!
I'm from Maryland. (Okay, West Virginia. Don't let it get around.) They mocked me back home when I moved to Chicago. "It's cold there! They get snow there!" WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?
We had lightning, the power flickered twice, then we heard a few transformers blow out, back on Heartwood. I lost the internet (but not the cable), but Comcast helped fix it. OMG Viola is going to have a ball in the backyard.
The snow is up to and over the flower barrel. I think we're gonna lose a tree or two; all the pines here are so heavy with snow they look like closed umbrellas.
Yeah, it was warmer when it first started, so we had a nice layer of sneet (I totally ship snow with sleet: OTP!) that turned into a thin sheet of ice after dark. But, still, you drive like a sane person, it's OK. We live in Ohio, though, so that's impossible. Despite the fact we routinely get multiple annual snowfalls, people always freak out the minute it gets deep enough to make a footprint.
Nonetheless, they predicted anywhere from 8-12", but I can still see belleh (I always measure snow based on how much cat remains viewable when I toss it into the snow, far more reliable). I am woefully disappointed.
What snow we are getting does seem rather damp and heavy. As you noted, the trees are looking somewhat pendulous. On the bright side, Hurricane Ike cleared out all the weak shit last year, so I don't anticipate much in the way of tree loss or damage. And tomorrow? Total photo ops.
We used to have almost 2 feet of accumulation for the whole season so far, then about a week ago we had heavy rain for a day or so. Back down to bare, dead grass in places. We then had just over 4 inches this week to cover things back up again.
I would send one of my boyz out to help with the snow clearing, but that would probably involve them shoveling for 3.458 minutes, claiming they are tired, and proceeding to romp around in the snow and look for a sled.
