I have many photo dumps to do, but here is today's. COOKING ADVENTURES!

Chocolate Chip Crunch Cookies. Left is done with the stoneware cookie sheet. Right done with the metal tray and a silpat. Can we tell which one I will be using in the future?

Now some Garam Masala Chocolate Gingerbread with Royal Icing! (Gluten Free
Cribbed icing bags:

I was studious:

(BTW Anya, these are yours)

And I tried out some new cookie cutters:

"What Darth Vader began to realise, was that when Boba Fett said, 'As you wish', what he really meant was 'I love you'."

TK-421, WHY AREN'T YOU AT YOUR POST?

Then I realised that I had a shitload more icing than cookies, and I started to get irritated:

So I iced the rejects:

I made a lot of things over the holidays:

But I forgot to make pictures of them. However, I am starting to write a cookbook in post-it notes. Thanks Gypsy. BUT! Before I forget!

I made breakfast in a muffin:

They aren't pretty when the come out of the oven. I can think of ways to make them more aesthetically attractive:

But when you cut them in half!

And that is my cooking odyssey for December and Stuff.

Dude. We have to open that bakery, stat. STAT!!!! OMG, the Star Wars cookies! They look utterly amazing! You're brilliant, absolutely brilliant!!! And you combined Princess Bride w/ Star Wars, my life is now complete.

And stoneware, huh? I'll have to look into that, wow.

TBF, i DIDN'T COME UP WITH THE PRINCESS BRIDE STARS WARS THING. IT'S ON AN ICON OUT THERE.

PAMPERED CHEF MAKES THE STONEWARE, AND IT'S EXPENSIVE, BUT LOOK AT MY COOKIES ON THE LEFT. FUCKING GORGE.

Those star wars cookie cutters are delicate flowers. I shall have to work with them.

OMG - what is the recipe for your breakfast muffins? Want to try!

Breakfast in a muffin (by Joanne Fluke)

Date: 2011-01-17 07:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
Preheat oven to 400 degrees

2 cups flour
1 T white sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 large eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter melted

12 strips bacon fully cooked

12 small/medium eggs

1/2 cup shredded cheddar, swiss or jack cheese

In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Stir them up all together with a fork until they're evenly combined.

Break the 3 large eggs into a med size bowl and whip them with a whisk. Add the milk and whisk, add the butter and mix well.

Make a well in the bowl with the flour mixture. Dump the liquid mixture into the well and mix it all up with a spoon until everything is well moistened.

Grease a pan with 12 muffin cups or a jumbo pan with 6. FOR SRS. GREASE THEM WELL. I used PAM.

Give the batter a final stir, and then put a spoonful of batter in the bottom of the cups, enough to cover the bottom.

Form one strip of bacon into a circle that'll fit inside your muffin tin. Press down in the batter like a little circular fence. Do the same for the other muffin cups.

Crack and seperate a med size egg. Put the white into a bowl. Slide the yolk inside the little bacon circle and repeat. I use the leftover whites for lunch or meringue or something.

Divide the remaining batter among the partially filled cups just spooning it on top. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.

Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes (for 12 regular tins) or 375 for 25 minutes (for 6 jumbo muffins).

You can reheat these in the microwave. The batter is light enough that I bet you could put a little syrup on it, like a pancake.

You're welcome. Don't forget to give me credit in the intro.

I kind of want your Garam Masala Gingerbread recipe but I'm afraid it'll be a little too much like chai. I can only handle a small amount of chai before it starts tasting off to me. Why? Who knows?

Garam Masala Chocolate Gingerbread (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aarti-sequeira/garam-masala-chocolate-gingerbread-recipe/index.html) I subbed my GF mix for the flour, but that was a fly by night thing. I might try something else next time.

I do my royal icing from egg whites (http://www.joyofbaking.com/RoyalIcing.html), not meringue powder.

I ran out of fresh grated ginger, so I finely minced crystalized ginger. GINGERY!. I also recommend making the measurements for the garam masala "heaping".

I will warn you, I am not adept at gf baking, so they are more...gritty than the non gf ones. On the other hand, we all agreed that at the dinner party, and yet we kept eating them.

I PUT GOURMET SUGARS ON THEM. You will have to tell me what you think of the ones with curry sugar on them.

Yeah, some of the gf flours have a lot of tooth to them, e.g. rice flour. I AM USED TO THIS.

And sugar + spice will make up for the rice!

I'm srsly excited. Nobody has ever custom-baked gf for me before!

Seriously, Blue should move here so we can go a gluten free/vegan thing. Half gf. half vegan. Some days when we're feeling really adventurous we'll make gf vegan desserts.

I used brown rice flour/sorghum flour/tapioca starch/potato starch. They made great black and whites, though! Next time I make some I shall send them!

Sweet, those cookie cutters actually came out really well! The first time I used those kinds, half my cookies came out misshapen and blorped because I hadn't found the right ratio of pre-flouring and pressure. They still tasted good though.

I still kind of suck with them. These ones were hard to ice. I think if i worked with sugar cookies it would be better. GOALS!
