YEAH, I KNOW IT'S TEN DAYS, NICK. I CAN'T COUNT AND NOW I'M JUST GOING WITH IT.

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)
Day Seven: Four turn offs.
Day Eight: Three turn ons.
Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.
Day Ten: One confession.

DAY TWO

1. I suck at clipping coupons.
2. I'm starting a running regimen. This sucks ass. Why me? Why in the winter?
3. I bake. I rarely eat anything I make.
4. My favorite dessert, while we're on the subject, are golden grahams s'mores.
5. My favorite book, still, is John Fowles' The Magus.
6. My favorite band of all time is concrete blonde. Always. Allllllways.
7. Speaking of Always, I hate maxi pads.
8. I don't believe in baking with margarine.
9. I love tofu. (four of these are about food. That should tell you why I need #2).

Wow, "The Magus". That's one to sink your teeth into! It used to be one of my favorite books, but it suffered greatly on a reread last year. (My post about it here: http://spiderine.livejournal.com/383774.html)

Yeah, I'm almost afraid to reread it now.

Yeah, my reread opened my eyes quite a lot... you can tell it was written in 1965.

Well, I read it first in about 1993, so it was dated then. But I read it as a Faustian interpretation, so we might have been coming at it from different perspectives.

You must tell me more about this; we can take it to email if you wish. I certainly read it with a different perspective, both times.

Haaahahahah it was part of a class on Faust. We read Marlowe, then Goethe, then Thomas Mann's Doctor Faustus, and then Fowles. It was interesting to see the "deal with the devil" plan take a few sharp turns.

#2- Good luck on the running! I have been considering trying a Couch to 5K program. Even gone as far as downloading some podcasts to listen whilst walking/jogging. And then it snowed today. Blargh.

HAAAHAHAH THAT HAPPENED TO ME TOO.

But...but...you just told me to use margarine...

From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
Yeah, I still think you shoudl use butter, but some people are ADAMANT about margarine usage.

I'm gonna use butter, because that's what I have. I generally prefer to use butter, which works out even better because I give it to someone else to eat. WIN-WIN.

I think especially when you're making something dense like a pound cake, that you want that butterfat.

Apparently all I have is a 10.5"x6.5"x3" "loaf" pan. I guess it will just have to do. It'll just be flatter and wider than a normal loaf, I guess.

Mention of the Couch to 5k. Dammit I had worked myself up pretty good then decided running was just boring... AHH! LOL. I should start that again as I sure felt good, and was amazed at how quickly I got to where I could run more. Hmmm.

TOFU! I just happened to be trying to help my sister with her vegetarian daughter (she is terrified Lexie will decide to go vegan) and finding recipes and stumbled across this baked tofu recipe I might try whenever I get tofu next. Cuz I love tofu too, especially browned lightly in a pan and used in a dish with veggies. Man that sounds good right now... Argh.

Anyway, baked tofu? Do you ever? http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/maindishes/r/bakedtofu.htm

I've battered it in egg, then dipped t in breadcrumbs and parm and baked it. But this looks good!

Hmmm, no margarine? I bake w/ margarine, shortening and butter, depending on what I'm doing. Do you ever use shortening in anything?

And I didn't know that about the s'mores! Cool beans.

I have to confess. I don't know Concrete Blonde. Or maybe I do know a song or two of theirs, but I don't know that they are the band that sings/plays it.

And now I want chocolate.

HAAAHAHAH i use margarine in cooking sometimes,. I used to use shortening in pies. I still do sometimes. I use it in melting chocolate, and to grease pans.

tofu?! Out of all the things in the world?! I mean... chocolate, kinder, nutella... and you come out with tofu? Girl, girl, girl... you desserve that running regimen for blaspheming chocolate!

Date: 2010-12-05 01:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
I LOVE KINDER. Not so much with nutella. :(

JUST BECAUSE I LOVE TOFU DOES NOT MEAN I DON'T LOVE CHOCOLATE.

From: [identity profile] keina-snape.livejournal.com
t-t-t-t. You chose tofu over chocolate. You hurt chocolate's feelings. now you'll get double calories for every piece of chocolate you eat, that's your punishment!

From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
CRAP. I ATE A SHITTON OF CHOCOLATE TODAY.

Dude, s'mores. Not only do I love them, I love many things that purport to have their flavor.

You're a better woman than I, re: running. Cannot. Do. It.

From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
YEAH, BUT YOU HAVE A GYM MEMBERSHIP.

Date: 2010-12-06 05:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arsenicjade.livejournal.com
Right, but I don't run at the gym, either.

Date: 2010-12-06 02:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com
Man if I had a gym membership, they'd have to PRY me off that treadmill.

I wish. I need a new workout.

Haha. I am so fucking late with everything.

Fuck it, at least I'm on LJ for a few minutes.
