Okay, so I'm supposed to be doing Nano, and I SWEAR I WILL MAKE IT UP (aka Famous Last Words, copywrite the universe and MCR) but failing that, I do have evidence what I have been doing the last two days (four days, whatever).

BACKGROUND: Watching OOTP, the ending fight, Viv wants to play "kick the death eater's ass". We have no wands. Just a panda head on a stick. Oh, hi, Remus!

"It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Von."
WHAT TREATS! THE TREATS YOU'VE JUST BEEN PLAYING! THE ONES YOU CARRY INSIDE YOUR RUSTY INNARDS!

"The sight of the little madeleine had recalled nothing to my mind before I tasted it...." but "....as soon as I had recognized the taste of the piece of madeleine soaked in her decoction of lime-blossom which my aunt used to give me .... immediately the old grey house upon the street, where her room was, rose up like a stage set to attach itself to the little pavilion opening on to the garden which had been built out behind it for my parents."
PART ONE: BUTTER FAIL!

PART TWO: BUTTER WIN!

"No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me. An exquisite pleasure had invaded my senses, something isolated, detached, with no suggestion of its origin. And at once the vicissitudes of life had become indifferent to me, its disasters innocuous, its brevity illusory – this new sensation having had on me the effect which love has of filling me with a precious essence; or rather this essence was not in me it was me. ... Whence did it come? What did it mean? How could I seize and apprehend it? ... And suddenly the memory revealed itself. The taste was that of the little piece of madeleine which on Sunday mornings at Combray (because on those mornings I did not go out before mass), when I went to say good morning to her in her bedroom, my aunt Léonie used to give me, dipping it first in her own cup of tea or tisane. The sight of the little madeleine had recalled nothing to my mind before I tasted it. And all from my cup of tea."

Date: 2010-11-03 08:13 pm (UTC)I'm still unsure about the madeleines They always end up darker. I had ti turn down the oven 23 degrees and shave off two minutes of cooking time.

Date: 2010-11-04 01:10 am (UTC)That panda on a stick was a wise purchase. And it's a shame there's no show and tell at Viv's school the week they do brown, because she'd be taking Taffi's monkey.

Date: 2010-11-06 01:45 pm (UTC)I have been making gluten free baked goods myself. Namely, date and walnut cake (which is more like a date and walnut brownie) and this fudgey cake thing which is amazingly tasty and full of chocolate, nuts and actual fudge.
Recipe for porky goodness? It looks completely delicious.
