The Polyamorus Fanmix
Oct. 18th, 2009 12:47 amSo, on Thursday, the Poly Big Bang goes live, and THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER WRITTEN WILL BE POSTED. I know that my mixer was planning to do a mix, and I hope that she is still.
But look, I made a mix of my own, as I wrote it, and this is it. This is all I listened to as I wrote it. I was going to wait to post this after Thursday, but I have a feeling that the less I have to do whilst I am away, the better I will be. So, the story stats are:
Title: We held gold dust in our hands
Author:
amand_r
Fandom: Torchwood
Characters: Team, etc (Jack/Lisa/Ianto/Gwen/Rhys and all permutations thereof with a heavy dose of the first three), Rhys, Rhiannon, Alice, Ten, Lisa (basically everyone!)
Timeline: AU from pre S1 and threads through both seasons, part of CoE and into THE FUTURE. Enjoy the ride.
[The files are a mix of different formats, but there's so much converting going on out there that I didn't convert them. I'll be honest—it's one of the few things I have never been able to figure out how to do, much like using ephpod on my computer, despite having it installed. So, I hope that's okay with you, and if you cannot play something in its current format, I am told there are converters out there. And if that doesn't work, I am sorry!]
Srs. I am excited. Hence:

THE POLY FANMIX
LISA: Regina Spektor, 'Laughing With' No one laughs at God in a hospital, no one laughs at God in a war/ No one's laughing at god when they've lost all they got and they don't know what for.

JACK/IANTO/LISA/GWEN/RHYS: Sophie B. Hawkins, 'We Are One Body' Your kiss, your kisses set me free/ (I wasn't listening before)/ Your lips your tongue your hands your feet/ (You gave everything back to me)/ I want you need you to feel free/ Now all I want is to be this free.

RHYS/GWEN: Barenaked Ladies, 'Life in a Nutshell' She's like a baby, I'm like a cat; /When we are happy, we both get fat and still /It's never enough, It's never enough, It's never enough.
JACK: Carbon Leaf, 'One Prairie Outpost' Scene after scene passes by my life/ The window's a wound. The road is a knife/ The irony, ask me, 'where have you been?'/ I don't know, I don't know/ Because I don't know where to begin.

JACK/IANTO: Heather Nova, 'Walk This World' And it's burning in our fingers and it's burning on the road/ And I like the way you're broken and I'll like you when you're old/ And I see you in the garden and I feel you plant the seed/ I want you to come walk this world with me.
IANTO/LISA: Cyndi Lauper, 'Shine' I can see the frown you wear/ All around like some faded crown,/ Like a watch over-wound/ Gonna call down to this diamond buried underground/ Gonna pull you up, by your love, by your love.

Gold Dust was my song with a friend. I love that song. I love the squishiness of the notes together, and the way you can pause until it's almost too much before continuing a phrase. Totally putting this on my phone so I can listen to it tomorrow and work out how they all fit together.
