Tools > AutoCorrect > Single/Double quotes > Replace = NO (unchecked)

Worked last time I did it, but I don't have Open Office on this computer to check.

iT FINALLY WORKED! Sadly, it does not correct all the old ones for me, but good enough!

My creaky way of doing it is search and replace -- copy the curly quote, paste into the "find" window, replace with regular quote mark. But you were probably going to do that anyway.
