A couple things: I threw mah hat in for help_haiti, and while I am glad I have bids, COME ON PEOPLE. ::SHAKES THAT ASS:: YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT.

Also, as itinerant_vae suggested, I lightning rounded myself, because I THINK MONEY NEED TO BE FLOWING LIKE VOMIT IN A CRUE FIC.

I'm not picky about charities, actually, because there are quite a few good ones, and also, some that are more embedded in Haiti and therefore in the position to help more than ones that I might favor. I know that some people have gone with DirectRelief, who I really like, but I also like Partners in Health.

I miss my online buddies. Online buddies, where are you?

They need IV fluids too. People are getting up, walking away from places, not getting IV fluids to wash the toxins from their system, and going into renal failure. IIUC, this is simple to correct, but they just don't have them.

They need EVERYTHING. Gods, I have so much admiration for the aid teams there on the ground, it's got to be hellish difficult for them to just keep going and deal with that desperation.

It's the lack of infrastructure that makes this heartbreaking. I think I heard yesterday that relief planes landed, but they couldn't get off the ground again because there was no fuel.

Which means that new relief planes can't land because the airport's blocked with the other planes that can't leave. And they wouldn't have fuel to leave, either.

It's definitely already hit clusterfuck squared. And the poor people just trying to survive and/or escape from fallen buildings are, understandably enough, growing desperate, and desperate humanity can do some very ugly things.

Up until last night, I had no idea what your feelings about the Haiti earthquake were. Heck I don't even know what my own feelings are about it. But I'm thinking of donating to charity, but this is in large part because you ask. I was reading up on Direct Relief and I like what I see. Now I just need to figure out how much.
