Fic: Reclamation (Torchwood, NC-17/R)
Nov. 10th, 2009 08:35 pmTitle: Reclamation
Author:
amand_r, cast of thousands.
Characters: everyone
Warnings: This fic contains a trigger (for rape), BUT IT CAN BE BYPASSED by choosing the labelled link at the correct time in the story. IF YOU ARE DISINCLINED TO READ THAT SEGMENT, the non-trigger option is clearly labelled at the appropriate time. It will not affect your understanding of the fic.
Author's Notes: This is a physical fic. I hesitate to call it art (or ficart). The text has been written by me, but all handwriting was painstakingly collected from:
kel_reiley,
used_songs,
valancy_joy,
bethcarielle,
51stcenturyfox,
neifile7,
sanginmychains,
joanwilder,
copperbadge,
pogrebin and
cruentum.
The webpage layout, logo and programming of the frame that you see all the pieces through was designed and put together by
angstslashhope, who when she heard of the project was appalled that I was going to slap them up there with o background or anything. she even made a flavicon! How gorgeous is that?! UNIT logo lifted from
the_dosk, Torchwood logos lifted from the interwebs in general. Cast list at the end. Have fun trying to guess who was who!
Summary: Item: Metal fire-proof box and contents. Catalogue #: 011J36FK-YRT-00l3. Location of retrieval: Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff (Torchwood Three headquarters). Object was found in debris following explosion at the Torchwood Three Hub; outside of the box is scarred, dented' one box corner depressed; burn marking evident; contents unharmed. Priority: low.

Date: 2009-11-11 04:01 am (UTC)LIKE, I have no idea what the Alice Guppy one was about, but I WANT to know why he kept it. And what did he say to Harriet on the bridge? I dunno.
I like that he only kept post its from Ianto. LOL.
Thanks for reading! I am glad you liked it!

Date: 2009-11-11 04:20 am (UTC)Oh Mandr-and all--I realized I was posting my thoughts on twitter instead of here. So now here. I swear, this project turned out so amazing--and I have this strong feeling it will spawn fics. So many questions raised begging to be answered or at least mulled over and explored, so many stories bursting in my mind over every little piece.
Really wonderful project. So awesome, thank you for pulling it together!

Date: 2009-11-11 04:24 am (UTC)This was really goddamn creative. It's so great that you got so many people involved, and the outcome was just perfect. I love the Post-Its; very characteristic. Tosh's card was adorable. And the fact that it is its own little website - really awesome. I love this kind of stuff, like copperbadge's epistolary fic, "All That I Ain't Got". It's my favorite kind of medium to read, and you did a really great job with it.

Date: 2009-11-11 12:23 pm (UTC)I'm just amazed at how evocative each of these snippets is, both in what they say and how they look. The Hart letter is MOW of course, but I think the four Ianto post-its are the absolute best match of form and content, the entire relationship practically distilled to haiku. And Alex's poem and the "twin hollows," written on that receipt, just gutted me.
I agree with C. In fact, there should be a fic challenge to go with this. But with strict word limits, I think, because the beauty of this is how spare it is, how fragmentary, and all the richer and truer for it.

Date: 2009-11-11 04:10 pm (UTC)I am so glad that you liked it, and I'm excited to work on your epistolary fic! That is going to rule!
