with my freeze ray i will stop--
Jan. 6th, 2010 11:33 am1. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about this.
2.
bluejeanius has created fanart for the great JB VS NPH BIG GAY BATTLE on afterelton. And it's headlining their Wrap-up post! LOL!
3. HIGHLANDER PEEPS! WHEN WAS RICHIE BORN? HE WAS LIKE 17 IN 1992 OR SUMMAT, RIGHT? 1975?
4. Thanks to whomever nommed Gold dust for a CoT award. THREESOME CATEGORY. AWWWW SHEEEIT.
5. I want to do that "What do you think if these fandom tropes?" Meme, but I'm fairly sure that you all know what I think of that shit, and even if you didn't, you wouldn't care.
6. QUESTION: WHAT THE SHIT IS THIS? ANSWER: FUCKING AWESOME.
7. And while we're on the subject, Santa Jaws is coming to town.
8. Took the snickerdoodle to the National Aviary on New Year's Eve…Day. I bet you didn't know that Pittsburgh is the home of the NATIONAL AVIARY, DID YOU? SUCK IT. WE HAVE FREE-FLIGHT ROOMS.
Okay.
LOOK AT THIS GRUMPY ASS MUTHERFUCKER:

HE'S A STELLER SEA-EAGLE. CHECK OUT THE FOOD IN THE BACK OF THE PEN:

ONE OF THESE BIRDS IS A SERIAL KILLER:

AND ONE IS A NINJA (I DIDN'T SEE HIM):

MORE GRUMPY ASS MUTHERFUCKERS:

THEY ARE OUR EAGLES:

AND THIS FATASS RAN AROUND THEIR PEN:

NO WONDER THEY'RE GRUMPY.
ALSO, STRANGELY, IN THE FRONT OF THE DISPLAY GLASS:

THIS IS FOR BLEU BLEU:

PENNINS!

WHAT, MUTHERFUCKER? WHAT?!

WHERE'S AMAND-R?

OH THERE I AM. I LOOK REALLY BAD. SRY.

OH HALLO, UNDERWATER DUDE:

LASER EYES…CHARGING…

It's hard to see, but this is the back of a two-toed sloth hanging inside a crate. I was intrigued and almost missed him. They keep him with the toucans. Apparently, in order to keep the classification of a "zoo" the aviary needs to have at least one mammal on the premeses. Hence: sloth. Snaeky and cool.

WHO IS THIS MUTHERFUCKER? JOHN BARROWBIRD?

VIVI MEETS WILLIAM, THE VICTORIAN PIGEON:

VIVI WONDERS WHAT PIGEON WOULD TASTE LIKE. PROBABLY CHICKEN:

VIV CHILLS IN THE DESERT BIRDS ROOM:

SHE'S POSEABLE!

MINGOS!

Date: 2010-01-06 04:45 pm (UTC)The Queens Zoo has a giant geodesic dome Aviary full of awesome birds. One of the best features is a concrete walkway that climbs smoothly through the canopy. Very sixties and futuristic. Definitely worth a look if you are in New york. It's also next to the rocket park and Science Museum. Gorgeous.
LOL@ Dexter. Reminds me of Wallace and Grommit: "Have You Seen This Chicken?"

Date: 2010-01-06 07:54 pm (UTC)According to Richie Ryan's page on the Highlander Wiki, he was born around 1975. Or "born," since as far as anyone knows, baby Immortals just appear out of thin air. Maybe the stork actually does bring them.

Date: 2010-01-07 04:32 am (UTC)When I was at Grand Canyon, there were these birds at every lookout. And at every lookout, there was a random tour guide who'd say "Oh LOOK. A CALIFORNIA CONDOR." (In that really awful 1950s accent -- a caLIfornYA CONNN-DOOR).
Either they were feeding them, or lying, because there's only, like 5 of them left in the wild.
